My sister Brooke has been getting after me for not updating my blog since the first time I wrote on Blogspot.com. The truth is that I can’t remember my password and I could never get pictures uploaded so really I mostly just forgot and couldn’t get back into my account.
Anyway, things have been going really great here and a LOT has been going on.
We’ll back up to the end of April…
On the 27th I entered a couple of singing competitions. One for Dodge HQ to win a “free” Dodge Ram. The other was for Star of the West. The winner for that one gets a fully produced album and gets to open for Josh Gracin on the 29th of August.
So, I was in the top 20 for the Dodge contest and the same day, I had auditioned for Star of the West and made the top 5. Both competitions were to begin within an hour of each other. I wanted to try to make both of them, but it just wouldn’t work. Aaron and I went to the Dodge one and as I sat there, waiting for the people to get the show on the road, they explained more and more about what the next year would be like if you won. I found out that basically you would be working for them for free for a year doing promotions in the “free” truck which was actually a 2 year lease that you had to pay taxes on. So, you would actually end up paying about $1500 if you won. All you had to do was sing the Dodge jingle and the judged would narrow it down until the winner was picked. After I found all this out, I decided that it would be much better to compete in the Star of the West. So, I sang the first round at Dodge, and then we headed over to SLCC on Redwood and 4500 South for Star of the West.
There were 5 finalists from the day competition, and one of them was one of my fomer voice students. Funny huh! Anyway, Everyone sang, then they had a little concert by Charly Jenkins and Haywire, then they announced the two winners that get to go on to the Semi-Finals in Heber City, July 21st. I was so excited when they called MY NAME! Me and another girl, Whitney Wooley? (I think) will be going to the Semi Finals in July. I will be 71/2 months pregnant then so it will be interesting to see how it goes. It will be an adventure. This would be a great contest to win, though, because the winner gets $1,000, a 12 song album produced for them (which I mentioned before), 300 copies of their CD, and will have to help promote the contest by performing around the state. There are 5 cities they are choosing finalists from and I am so excited to be one of the ones from Salt Lake.
Anyway, so that is the latest on that singing competition. I am also entering one for Jenny Phillips, to be a recording artist on her new 2008 young women’s CD. The top 10 will do the chorus work and the winner will record the single “to become like him.” That one is coming up in the beginning of July so I have a lot to be working on!
Aaron got a new job/was transfered up to the North Ogden Mountain America Credit Union branch. I guess he likes it. Managing other people can be a lot of work, but he does well at it. It is actually closer than the Questar branch in SLC by about 10 miles and since he is going against traffic it saves a lot of time and gas money which is crucial with gas prices going up. He is bummed that he has to work from 9-6 instead of 8-5 but the extra time in the morning and not having to fight traffic makes up for it, I think. He gets home only about 10-15 minutes later than he used to, so everything is good:)
Moving you say? Yes..no…we are debating. We are thinking of selling our house, renting a cheap apartment, and flipping a few houses on the side. We don’t know if it will work out though. We only want to spend about $400-$500/mo on rent to make this happen and it all depends on what we can sell our house for. If anyone has any good ideas, or knows of a good apartment up this way between kaysville and South Ogden, let us know!
Little Adelaide…she is getting bigger all the time. In our last ultrasound she wouldn’t move her hands from her face (little stinker!
She is going to be so cute though! She was about 9 inches long and weighed 14 ounces at the last visit. The doctor said it looks like she has long fingers, just like Dad! I guess we won’t really be able to tell until she is born. I am excited. I am 24 weeks and 2 days so only 15 weeks and 5 days to go. She sure is busy all the time. She kicks a lot now. Ashley Liljenquist Baird, my best friend since preschool, is pregnant too, just about 3 weeks behind me and she is having a girl too! The only “baby” thing we bought is a Crib. It is white and we bought is off of KSL, so we have been cleaning it because it is a little older. It is cute though. I can’t wait to have pink everything for her!
